Rick has been a professional percussionist in the Tulsa area for over 30 years. During this time he has had diverse experience and developed versatility and proficiency in nearly all percussive styles. His early training was playing rock and roll in recreational centers throughout the city with the VI Counts, a local five piece rock band. He developed early an appreciation for jazz and worked with the thirteen piece Bob Alspaugh Orchestra for several years in the mid 1960’s. As the youngest member of a number of local jazz groups Rick has greatly benefited from the training of many of Tulsa’s best jazz players. Rick began working with Gayle Williamson and Bunky Harper (guitar) in 1967 and the synergy of this group led to an association that has spanned 30 years and continues with Soundz Good today.
